First WIP release of TetraZone


There is 2 weeks until the submission deadline for AmiGameJam 2024 and I decided to upload my first WIP version. I wrote TetraZone in C with a framework and both were started roughly at the beginning of September 2024.

The AmiGameJam has actually a running time of 6 months, but at this moment I know I just simply don't have the means to work on a 6 month project, so I started 3 months before the deadline. By having an immovable deadline, I was forcing myself to stay focused and work almost every day on the game.

Why a Tetris clone ? First, this complies with the rules to make a sequel to a game that was released on the Amiga. Also, Tetris is my favorite game and as far as I know all of them are based on classic versions of the game while I wanted to make something that is more inspired by modern Tetris incarnations.

It also has the advantage that the effort for graphics was reasonable for the given timeframe. 

There will be music, but I have intentionally left it out for the first upload, since I haven't finished it yet - working with a tracker is tedious compared to a  modern DAW.

This game was so far only tested on the emulator, so I don't really know how it behaves on real hardware yet, my Amigas are still in moving boxes and need to be set up. I am sure there's still a fair share of bugs, but I finally have all the pieces connected together so this is what the current version represents.
